After You Enroll:
Navigating ACA with ACAagent.com
Once you’ve successfully enrolled in an ACA plan, the journey doesn’t stop there. Here’s what you can expect after enrollment, and how ACAagent.com can continue to help.
After Enrollment
After enrolling, you’ll receive a packet in the mail that includes your new insurance card and more information about your health plan. Now, it’s time to make the most of your coverage. You can start using it to help cover medical costs such as filling a prescription at the pharmacy, going to the doctor, or getting emergency care.
Remember, if your circumstances change – such as moving, having a baby, or adopting a child – or if your income or household size changes, you should update your application as soon as possible. Changes could impact your coverage options and savings.
If you’re eligible for Medicaid or CHIP, you’ll hear from your state about enrollment and next steps.
Common Coverage Questions
If you’re new to private health insurance or it’s been a while, you may have questions. Our “From Coverage to Care: A Roadmap to Better Care and a Healthier You” resource can guide you through using your coverage and improving your health.
If your health insurance company doesn’t pay for a specific health care provider or service, you have the right to appeal an insurance company decision.
Prescription Medications
Health plans help pay the cost of certain prescription medications. You can find out which prescriptions are covered through your new Marketplace plan by visiting your insurer’s website or checking your Summary of Benefits and Coverage.
If you’re at the pharmacy to pick up your prescription and learn your plan no longer covers it, some insurance companies may provide a one-time refill after your first enrollment.
If you can’t get a one-time refill, you have the right to follow your insurance company’s drug exceptions process. This allows you to get a prescribed drug that’s not normally covered by your health plan.
If your insurer denies your request for an exception, you have the right to appeal the decision and have it reviewed by an independent third party.
Getting Regular Medical Care
Most health plans give you the best deal on services when you see a doctor who has a contract with your health plan. You can find out if your doctors and other health care providers are covered by your new Marketplace plan by visiting your health plan’s website and checking their provider directory.
If you visit your regular doctor and find out later that your new plan doesn’t cover them, you have the right to appeal the decision and have it reviewed by an independent third party.Remember, ACAagent.com is here to help guide you every step of the way. We simplify the process and ensure you’re maximizing your health coverage benefits. Don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you have questions or need assistance. Your health is our priority.
